Fashion is a constantly evolving sector, disrupted by new trends, new technologies, new consumption patterns, and new concerns. The role of the stylist is to make sense of all these changes by integrating these new practices related to the evolution of their environment into their creations.

Fast Fashion : Stylists must adapt with agility and adaptability, as brands are giving more importance to creativity to differentiate themselves.

New Technologies : Their use allows companies to further personalize their customer experience. Stylists are better able to identify their targets and adapt their creations. This also concerns production technologies. The challenge lies in the ability to use technological tools in the service of the sector's professions while preserving manual know-how.

Customer Experience : Companies are focusing their strategy on customer experience. The stylist must therefore know how to work in collaboration with all the support services. The advent of social networks has also changed consumer behavior. Methods of co-creating products are emerging, allowing companies to juggle between supply-driven marketing (from creators alone) and demand-driven marketing (arising from field feedback).

Multichannel Distribution : Distribution methods are diversifying, improving the customer experience. Online commerce is experiencing strong growth, bringing forth e-commerce giants that are breaking market codes. To counter this, the stylist's work focused on the proposal, choice, and combination of products must be even more imaginative to offer consumers what they expect according to their values.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) : As fashion is the second most polluting industry on the planet, consumers are now seeking products that are respectful of the environment and humanity. Sector players are therefore betting on research and innovation: new materials less energy-intensive in natural resources and without negative impacts on the environment, upcycling...

HOW DOES THIS BACHELOR PROGRAM WORK?

The Bachelor in Fashion Styling and Design - Knitwear Design Specialization is a three-year program. It is possible to join the course from the first year or during the course.

The Stylist - Knitwear Design training is offered in French or English.

You can extend your Stylist / Knitwear Design training with the Master in Fashion Design and Brand Creation from LISAA Paris or the International Fashion Director Master's, the second year of which takes place at NABA in Milan.

For a more Fashion business perspective, you can also opt for one of the master's programs offered by LISAA in e-learning and alternating:

Upon completion of this training, you will obtain the following RNCP (National Directory of Professional Certifications) certification:

Fashion Designer Stylist - IDAA-LISAA - Level 6, registered in the RNCP under number 35659 by decision of the General Director of France Compétences on June 17, 2021.

EQUIVALENCY AND BRIDGING OPTIONS

Have you already obtained an RNCP title of a similar level and specialty elsewhere and are interested in our title? You can request a total or partial equivalency. The request must be made via the contact page.

Admission is possible in the 2nd or 3rd year if a first year of a similar Bachelor's program has been validated at another institution, subject to validation by the educational manager.

Career Paths After Fashion School

Depending on the size of the organization they work for, a stylist is required to work in a team with a pattern maker and manufacturers, or to take on these different roles alone. In the latter case, they delegate part of their activities to service providers and manage their coordination. Therefore, a stylist needs to be versatile and multidisciplinary. Consequently, the environment in which the fashion stylist/designer operates will influence not only their scope of work and the tasks assigned to them, but also their job title and their place in the production chain.

Fashion stylists/designers can work in various sectors: clothing industry, wholesale trade, retail trade, production of films, videos, TV programs, sound recordings and music publishing, publishing, press... for fashion brands, couture houses, style offices, research offices, purchasing centers, department stores, online sales sites, textile manufacturing companies, leather, etc.

The first year of this fashion bachelor's program is common to all the Bachelor's programs in the Fashion Design stream at LISAA Paris. At the end of the first year, you will have the opportunity to choose the specialization that best suits you.

The program is a 3-year course (6 semesters) with teaching hours distributed as follows:

First Year : 651 hours
Second Year : 646 hours
Third Year : 557 hours

Total Volume Over Three Years : 1 854 hours.

This volume includes hours of face-to-face and e-learning training, time dedicated to evaluations, group work, and workshops. Other events related to the training (conferences, speed recruiting, professional events related to the fashion sector) are organized throughout the year and are in addition to the training hours mentioned above.

This first year of training as a modelist is designed to stimulate your creativity and establish a solid base of knowledge necessary for the continuation of the bachelor's program. Teaching Methods Employed

In-Person Classes : These are conducted either in full-class settings or in specialized groups within the school's premises. The schedule is communicated during the pre-entry in September so that each learner can organize their schedule effectively.
E-Learning : Online courses are hosted on the BlackBoard Learn platform. Learners are notified of course availability via emails from teachers or the educational team or during in-person classes. E-learning is also integrated into the learners' schedules.
Non-Linear Scheduling : Timetables are designed non-linearly to prepare learners for the business world.
Multiple Instructors : Learners may have several instructors for the same Units of Study throughout the year, offering different perspectives on the work done during the courses.
Educational Objectives and Assessment Criteria : These are communicated to learners at the start of each project in various subjects.

The training employs multiple pedagogical methods to enable beneficiaries to acquire all the competences sanctioned by the targeted title. The pedagogy is designed to support, empower, and maximize learner autonomy through different methods:

Lectures : Theoretical teachings.
Flipped Classroom: Learners prepare a topic in advance and work on it individually during in-person classes.
E-Learning: The school provides programs and tutorials on BlackBoard Learn.
Blended Learning: E-learning complements in-person courses.
Workshops: Intensive exploration of a theme or acquisition of the title through limited-time programs.
Project-Based Learning: Projects are designed across multiple subjects and/or internal or partner school formations over a long period (semester).
Practical Cases: Learners face real case studies given by partner companies, addressing a professional need.
Autonomy: Autonomous work periods are included in schedules for learners to independently work on course topics.
Professionalization: A team dedicated to professionalization assists learners, and conferences on sector-related themes are regularly offered.

In-person courses and their various approaches are deployed in most classes, detailed in the syllabus, and outlined in the course's pedagogical progression plan.

The modalities of execution, monitoring, and evaluation of the action, as well as evaluation criteria, are communicated to teachers and assessors through the syllabus. Teachers and/or assessors support learners in the completion and follow-up of evaluative works.

For BlackBoard Learn, technical assistance is provided by the integrated digital learning manager, ensuring that each learner can access all available educational documents and resources. Teachers and speakers are encouraged to upload their course materials on the BlackBoard Learn platform for year-round student access.

Pedagogical assistance is provided by the program manager and/or pedagogical coordinator. The school offers learners the following services:

Photo Studio and Computers : Available for use.
Fablabs : Textile embellishment workshop (Laser Cutting, Digital Embroidery, plotters, presses), accessories workshop, knitwear workshop, screen printing workshop.
Modeling Rooms and Sewing Machines : Overlockers, coverstitch machines, accessible throughout the year for autonomous use.
Three technical monitors (Assembly, Knitwear, and Textile Embellishment) are available to learners by appointment.

Assessment procedures

Assessment is carried out throughout the course. Continuous work plays a particularly important role in our assessment of a learner's progress. Assessments with a pedagogical aim, close to professional expectations, will punctuate the course. These assignments are carried out individually or in groups.

Assessments in the third year are part of the certification process and are carried out in accordance with the criteria and procedures described in the qualification reference framework. This work must be completed individually.

Certificate Validation :

The assessment of work will be carried out throughout the year. Continuous work holds a particularly important place in our assessment of a learner's progress. Evaluations close to professional expectations will punctuate this year's training.

Individual evaluations will be carried out throughout the year. They take the form of written tests, depending on the subjects or skills to be validated. Any unjustified absence from an evaluation will be penalized with a ‘’Not Acquired’’.

Conditions for Eligibility to the Jury for the Issuance of the "Marketing & Communication Manager" Title :

Candidates registered who have validated all the skill blocks are presented to the certification jury for the Title.

To validate the RNCP certification :

A skill block is acquired if and only if all the evaluations have been passed. The skill blocks are cumulative. Obtaining the certification is conditional on the validation of all the skill blocks.

Deliberation of the Certification Jury :

The certification jury establishes the list of successful and deferred candidates based on the minutes of the jury. The jury may use evaluation elements from the candidate's course within the certifying or title-preparing institution.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

The training is accessible upon the recommendation of the admissions officers after an examination of the application (verification of prerequisites and, where applicable, ECTS credits possessed), followed by an interview to verify and validate the suitability of the profile for the careers targeted by the training.

The interview focuses on :

The alignment of the professional project with the training program.
The candidate's interest in the fashion sector.
An artistic and graphic sensibility.

PREREQUISITES

Target audience:

Graduates of general, technological, or vocational high school.
For entry into the 2nd year of the Bachelor in Fashion Design Stylist: Completion and validation of the first year of higher education (60 ECTS) in fashion design.
For entry into the 3rd year of the Bachelor in Fashion Design Stylist: Completion and validation of two years of higher education (120 ECTS) in fashion design.

Specific exemptions:

If the candidate does not have the required professional experience or diploma, they must present a portfolio demonstrating their ability to validate the professional certification (VAP, employer certificate, or other proofs of professional, personal, or associative experience that enables the acquisition of related skills). This skills recognition process would be similar to a Mixed VAE (Validation of Acquired Experience).

Students are expected to have a strong interest in fashion, motivation, and a desire to learn!
