A guarantor is a person bringing financial security and attesting you are creditworthy. It’s difficult to rent a place in France without a French guarantor. In most cases, student residences and landlords require that your guarantor earns income in France. You can get the Studapart Guarantee directly on the platform and add it to your rental application to find accommodation on LISAA platform or anywhere else!
There are several Parisian institutions that can help international students in Paris. The Union nationale des maisons d’étudiants gathers every student halls of residence in the parisian area. Furthermore, LISAA has a partnership with estate agents Les Estudines who offer studios for rent as well as several services for students.
LIVING IN PARIS
We advise international students who wish to come to Paris to study to consult the websites of Campus France, Mairie de Paris (Paris City Hall) and the tourist office, on which they will find a section dedicated to foreign exchange students.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
International students can find all necessary information in relation to their medical insurance on the French administration website, Service-Public, and the two student health insurance organisations, LMDE and SMEREP.
WELCOME AND ORIENTATION
International students are welcomed upon arrival by an international coordinator. LISAA has put in place a mentor system so that a LISAA student accompanies each international student during their stay in France. An orientation week is organized, starting with a welcome evening with the main teachers and the students of the year. International exchange students are also encouraged to actively participate in intercultural seminars and to organize events on their own initiative if they so wish.
LISAA is a partner of the Paris Police Headquarters to facilitate extending students visas.
