Aude Langlois-Meurinne to represent LISAA at Graduate Fashion Week in London
LISAA Fashion Paris has been selected to take part in Graduate Fashion Week in London from 5th to 8th June 2016. The school will be represented by Aude Langlois-Meurinne, a third year student in Fashion Design and Textile Design.
A collection on the theme of the sea
The starting point for third year Fashion Design-Pattern Making student Aude Langlois-Meurinne was the 2013 film "Fidelio: Alice’s Journey", directed by Lucie Borleteau. As the wind blows, we discover 30-year-old sailor Alice. She is a mechanic on Fidelio, a merchant navy cargo ship that is crossing the oceans.
Over the course of my research, I brought the character of Alice closer to the women of the sea – sailors, fisherwomen…

Describing her project, Aude writes, "Over the course of my research, I brought the character of Alice closer to the women of the sea – sailors, fisherwomen… In their own way, each of these women has a path, a different personal mission, but the link that brings them together is the very essence of their journey: the sea. For me, each evokes determination and life – the life that they love and defend, filled with a thirst for the sea, experiences and travel. That is why I chose the sea’s swell as a metaphor for their feelings. The sea is powerful, indomitable and we yield to its energy. The sailor composes with this, in search of harmony."
I transcribed the idea of waves and spray through large scale graphic patterns.

"In my collection, I wanted to mix together both a contemporary graphic and a poetic style. The colour palette of my project is inspired by the film, from the never-ending palette of navy blues to the bright or burnished red of rusting cargo. I transcribed this idea of waves and spray through large-scale patterns and raw and natural embroidery in rope and wool. They unfurl via my clothes like the spray swept by the wind. The idea of travel, the influence of the countries crossed, is translated by voluminous cuts inspired by distant horizons, and we also find the forms of workmen’s overalls and officers’ uniforms."
