Textile design for Paris Start-up, Inimitable Laloo
Fashion and accessories start-up Inimitable Laloo called upon students at LISAA Paris School of Fashion to design a unique print and to customise a clutch bag, in partnership with Eco TLC, who initiated an awards ceremony for the creation of an eco-conscious design.
THE CLUTCH BAG – A MEDIUM FOR DESIGN
As part of the colour and textile design class led by Julia Chevallier, students in Fashion Design-Pattern Design, Fashion Design-Textile Design and Fashion Design-Fashion Business at LISAA Paris designed and made a one-off model based on a clutch bag provided by the start-up Inimitable Laloo, using recycled materials. Eco TLC advised the students in terms of sustainable development for the choice of materials.
Designers had the choice of four themes: haute couture, sport, chic or urban travel. The customisation of the clutch bag could include needlework, collages, drawing, painting or any other material. The young designers could also add yokes or other salvaged materials. The inside of the clutch had to maintain its functionality whilst being reworked and decorated in accordance with the design on the outside.
DESIGNING A UNIQUE PRINT
In tandem with this project, students were asked to create a specific print, respecting the brand values of Inimitable Laloo—freedom, chic, nomadic, joy—and its bright colours. This fabric print might also be used in a future collection.
A DIVERSE PARTNERSHIP
This study project was initiated in partnership with the Paris-based start-up Inimitable Laloo, which makes innovative and forward-looking fashion accessories, and Eco TLC, an eco-company in the field of clothing, household and footwear textile recycling, which encourages eco-conscious product development.
The one-off designs will be on display at Sakina M'Sa’s concept store, Front de Mode, from 30th March. Eco TLC will award the three winning prizes on 30th March at 7pm as part of the exhibition opening.
