Two animated films from LISAA selected at festivals

Two animated films made by LISAA Paris students are competing in animation festivals at the end of 2018. Congratulations!

LOTUS D’OR AT THE TOURNUS FESTIVAL

Lotus d'Or is a 2-D animated short film that was directed by Hortense Pien, Aimée Duchet, Adèle Boulie, Valérian Gruel and Jérome Kabile while they were on their second year of the animation course at LISAA.

The film tells the story of Shuilian, a Chinese girl who discovers the tradition of foot binding.

It was selected, along with 12 other student films among 157 entries, to be part of the official Tournus Animation Festival competition.

The festival – organised by the Cinémascotte association in the town of Tournus to the north of Lyon – was held from 28th November to 4th December. It combines screenings of feature films and a competition evening for the 12 student films selected. Three prizes are awarded: the "Jean-Pierre Malo" award, the young award and the public choice award.

DANSE MÉCANIQUE AT THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANIMATED DANCING

The 3-D animated short film Danse Mécanique was directed by a team of third-year animation students: Laëtitia Loison, Thaïs Dubois, Arthur Prompt, Manon Rathuy, Claire Robert and Marie Maubet.

It tells the story of a porcelain dancer in a music box who discovers that she is able to dance by herself, without following the mechanism of the box.

The International Festival of Animated Dancing is a competition focusing on films that include animation and are dedicated to dance. Animated films in 2-D or 3-D and films with special effects are eligible. The objective is to highlight dance and research into contemporary dance and animation at the same time, aswell as research in this field on the movement of the body. The festival takes place on 13th December 2018 in Réunion.
