Textile Design Workshop in Trier
Six LISAA School of Fashion students participated in a creative workshop at the Trier University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Invited by the fashion and design students at the university, they carried out textile design projects inspired by Karl Marx quotes.
AN INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
From 9th to 13th October, six students from LISAA Paris School of Fashion were invited by Hochschule Trier—Trier University of Applied Sciences—in Germany for an international creative workshop. The six second-year students at LISAA come from different courses at the school: bachelor’s In Fashion Design/Pattern Making, Fashion Design/Textile Design and Fashion Design & Business.
Twenty students in total participated in this creative week, including six third-year students in fashion and design from Hochschule and three students from IMD.
TEXTILE DESIGN BASED ON THE QUOTES OF KARL MARX
Over the course of these four days on the creative workshop, the students worked on textile surface design projects with the theme of the quotes of Karl Marx.
Within this framework, they were able to explore varied techniques—dyeing, burnout velvet, Shibori, Origami, weaving, embroidery, typography—and an equally diverse range of fabric: black fabrics, paper, leather, fabric, threads, needlework tools, etc. As such, it was a great opportunity to explore cross-disciplinary techniques.
Beyond the creative challenge and the aim of presenting their final work, this trip to Trier was an opportunity for enriching exchanges between students from different schools.
