Two LISAA students awarded the 1st Jury Prize at the Polytechnique Startup Weekend

Marc Alechinsky et Thomas Cagna, 4th year students in Spatial Design and Product Design at LISAA Paris, won the 1st Jury Prize at the Polytechnique Startup Weekend for the LearningBox project, on the 9th March, 2014.

The 1st Jury Prize at the Polytechnique Startup Weekend

Jacques Biot, president of the Ecole Polytechnique, awarded the 1st Jury Prize of the Polytechnique Startup Weekend to the “LearningBox” team (seven members), for which Marc Alechinsky et Thomas Cagna, fourth year students in Spatial Design and Product Design at LISAA Paris, were the designers.

The jury, comprised of professionals in the business world (Hervé Kabla (X84), Managing Director of the agency Be Angels, Didier Tranchier (X84), Innovation Professor at the Institut Mines-Télécom and Business Angel, Jean-Michel Dalle (X88), Director of the incubateur Agoranov, Marie-Caroline Lanfranchi, Partner & Project Director Fabernovel, Nathalie Boulanger, Director of Orange Startup Écosystème), selected this project amongst 21 competing pitches (123 participants).

An Educational Startup Project

“LearningBox” consists of subscribing primary school pupils (6-12 years old) to learning tools contained in a box, the aim being to help them to learn their complete school curriculum in a stimulating and fun way. This is a project with great potential when considering the market size (6.5 million students) and the increasing difficulties children face before the first year secondary school.

The project, led by Héloïse Pierre, student at Sciences Po, was developed by a team with complementary skills, composed of managers (SKEMA Business School), designers (LISAA) and developers (École polytechnique, ESTIA).

Support Leading towards Business Creation

The prizes awarded aim to support the winners towards creating business: a coworking voucher valid at 50Partners, a mentoring organisation for young innovative startups, incorporation documents for a new business, training course in digital communication, a startup creation manual and a promotional video of the project.
